Compare your options in a table with a recommendation

List your options and what matters to you. Ask for a table that scores each one, then a recommendation with the reasoning.

Before

Which venue should we pick for the team offsite?

After

I'm choosing a venue for a two-day team offsite for 25 people. Here are three quotes I've received: """ [paste the three venue quotes] """ Compare them in a table. Put the venues across the top and these criteria down the side: total cost, travel time from the office, meeting room capacity, catering included, cancellation terms. Under the table, recommend one venue in two or three sentences and explain the trade-off. Flag anything the quotes don't tell me that I should ask about before booking.

Why it works

A side-by-side table makes trade-offs obvious in a way paragraphs don't. Naming the criteria yourself keeps the comparison focused on what matters to you, not what the AI guesses matters. Asking what's missing catches gaps in the quotes before you commit.

Your prompt

I'm choosing between [options] for [purpose]. Compare them in a table with the options across the top and these criteria down the side: [criteria 1], [criteria 2], [criteria 3]. Under the table, recommend one and explain the trade-off. Flag anything important I haven't given you.

Variations

Weight what matters most

Cost matters twice as much as anything else. Score each option from 1 to 5 on every criterion, double the cost score, and show the totals in a final row.

When you don't know the criteria yet

Before you compare anything, suggest the five criteria a careful buyer would use to choose between these options, and let me edit the list.

Ready for a spreadsheet

Give me the same table as comma-separated values so I can paste it into a spreadsheet.
